Is There Life After
Northern Cal Ripken Baseball?

YES!

NCR Partners with

Champions Sports

Northern Cal Ripken is happy to announce that we are partnering with Champions Sports in order to help develop the best baseball and softball players in the city! In addition to hosting try-outs for Rookie and Major baseball, Champions has agreed to work with NCR in a variety of ways. Champions has already offered discounted camps for NCR players, and more opportunities are on the way!

Champions offers a number of services for your players:
Feel free to check them out. Every year more and more NCR players are heading out to the Champions, and it is starting to show. Baseball and Softball have become a year round sport, and Champions is helping our players keep in playing shape every day of the year.

Concessions Help Needed!

One of the biggest services that we offer at NCR is also one of the hardest to maintain. The concession stand is open every game day serving food and team drinks to our NCR family. While we enjoy being able to offer this service to everyone, it is very tough on our concessions coordinator to keep it running smoothly. We usually have games Mondays through Saturdays, and when we start having makeups for rain outs, we have games on Sunday, too. This means our concessions coordinator is up here every day of the week from April through June. We are looking to help ease that burden this year.

If you are looking for a way to help out the park this year, then this could be a way for you to step up. We are looking to find a few concession assistants to help run the concession stand. The concession coordinator would still be there to help open the concession stand and help get everything ready. The assistant would then take over and run the concession stand for the coordinator. We hope to have a few people take a regular night during the week and/or a regular shift on the weekend. If we get enough people to step up, this would be a great help and service to the park and our kids.

If you either know you can help out or want more information before making a commitment, then please contact

Tracy Hobbs at thobbs@northerncalripken.com

Thank you for all that you do for our park. NCR has a great family who loves its kids and loves it park. This is a way for you to help make it even better. While the concession stand can be a bit hectic at times, it is absolutely worth it when you see all the kids run to the window for a team drink!

CALLING ALL COACHES!!!!

It is time to start thing about finding the coaches that will lead our teams next spring. The past few years we have had our teams go farther and farther into the post season, and one of the reasons is that the coaching in our league has been getting better on every level! We are hoping to keep that trend going for the 2012 season. If you are interested in being a coach at any of our levels, there are a couple of things you need to do.

First, please contact the appropriate coordinator and let them know of your interest.

T-Ball (4 - 6) : Randy Johnson : rjohnson@northerncalripken.com

Rookie (7 - 8) : Rodney Goodwin : rgoodwin@northerncalripken.com

Minor (9 - 12) : William Mack : wmack
@northerncalripken.com

Major (9 - 12) : Brock Powell : bpowell
@northerncalripken.com

One of the areas we really want to concentrate on are Minor league coaches. Every year we have to wait until after the Major league draft to see if we can get the coaches lined up. This year we are asking to see if there is anyone out there that knows they want to coach a Minor league team.

In order to make sure our coaches have a good foundation of baseball knowledge, every coach is required to pass a Cal Ripken coaching certification test. This test may be found at the following :

http://www.ripkencoaching.org/

The certification costs between $20 - $25, but it is good for your entire coaching career in a Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth park.

YOU WILL NEED TO SUBMIT A COPY OF YOUR CERTIFICATION WITH YOUR APPLICATION.

Once you have decided you want to try to be a coach, we need to get an application form from you. This form has the obvious necessary contact information, but it also asks you for some private information so we can perform a background check on every applicant. THIS IS NON-NEGOTIABLE. You will not be allowed to coach a team, whether as the head coach or an assistant, if you do not fill out this form.

Please fill out this form and return it to Ronnie Perry

1084 E. New Circle Road
Suite 300
Lexington, KY 40505

If you prefer to scan it an email it to Ronnie, please send it to rperry@northerncalripken.com

Major, Minor, and Rookie coaching applications are due by December 9th. Please do not delay and get it in as soon as possible. Coaches interviews will be set up the weekend of December 10th or 17th. You will be called with your interview time as we get closer to the weekend.

T-Ball coaches will be decided after the beginning of the year.

YOU MUST HAVE YOUR APPLICATION TURNED IN BEFORE YOU WILL BE GIVEN AN INTERVIEW!  We take the background check VERY SERIOUSLY!

Please note that the form also outlines the fund raising responsibility that every coach is going to assume if given a team.

Sponsorship Forms Online

Coaches : Go to the Coaches Corner link on the left to download the sponsorship form, or you can get it here. Sponsorships are due by May 15th. If your sponsorship is not turned in by that time, you will not be allowed to coach your team until you have fulfilled your obligation. Let's get these in ASAP so we don't have to worry about it. Please contact Shannon Penegor if you have any questions or need to turn in your sponsorship!

Attention all Coaches, Assistant Coaches,
and  Team Moms!

Before the season begins, you MUST fill out the Youth Leader Request Form! You can right click on the link and save the file to your computer. Please print off this form and give it to your league coordinator as soon as possible. If this form is not completed by the first game, you will not be allowed to continue in your current role.

Please only fill out the top half of the form. The bottom half needs to be filled out by a Northern Cal Ripken official.

Also, ALL coaches and assistant coaches must complete the certification designated by Cal Ripken / Babe Ruth baseball. This process must be completed by the first game. If it is not completed, then you will not allow to be a coach for the team until the certification has been completed. The certification is a 3 year certification. Please see the Coaches Corner for the link.

Please pass all forms on to the head coach or to the league Vice-President ,Ronnie Perry. Ronnie can be reached at  the following :
